Free and low—cost spay and neuter services will be provided by the SNAP mobile clinic. Residents receiving most forms of government assistance will be eligible for FREE services. No appointment is necessary and clients are served on a first—come, first—served basis. Low—cost services are available to others at the following rates:

Male dog neuter: $$45; Female dog spay: $$60; $$10 extra for male dogs 40 lbs. and over; $$15 extra for female dogs 40 lbs. and over; Male cat neuter: $$30; Female cat spay: $$45; Add $$20 for female dogs and cats over 30 days pregnant; $$10 pain medication for all pets and $$10 rabies vaccinations available.

October is National Adopt a Shelter Dog Month and animal shelters throughout the area are filled with dogs of every breed, shape and size —— all in need of good homes. San Antonio Animal Care Services (ACS) invites local residents to 'Opt to Adopt' at the city shelter.

Everyone who adopts a dog from ACS during October will not only get a lifetime of love and loyalty, but a FREE large bag of premium dog or puppy food from Science Diet, Iams or Eukanuba.

ACS is open for adoptions Tuesday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Both dogs and puppies available for adoption will have all their initial vaccinations, sterilization surgery and a microchip ID, all available for just $$81.

The adoption fee is $$73 for puppies, $$21 for kittens, and includes microchipping, spay/neuter, and current vaccinations.
